Over there at work

Its funny our husbands work all week long, all day long, and everyday, and we understand that because we married a soldier...but when does Uncle Sam say, "spend time with your loved ones!" When is the right time to step away from work and say its family time? Or is that a hopeless dream? I love my husband and will do anything for him, but it kills me to know that I spend holidays and birthdays as a single parent. Even on block leave my husband is still at work : P I wonder is it hard for the soldiers to leave their families for long stretches at a time and when coming home they find that his wife is the mother and father in one and can fix the toilet if it brakes. I wonder.

Hey There,
You know it is hard when they come back. My mom who was an Air Force Wife always said that while it's hard while they are away it can be even more challenging when they return. You have to learn to share the duties of being a mother and father again and balance how both of you interact with the kids. It's tough because you have gotten into the habit of doing everything yourself and the father is just trying to readapt to filling all those roles as well. I think it is a challenge but it can be done - I turned out allright!
